The tour: Where we have been in Canada

During 2007 we travelled from the East to the West and really loved
the emptyness and rugedness of this wonderful country.

End of May and beginning of June we covered Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The plains, the history of the native people and the metis impressed very much.

June is Alberta. Alberta is large - and has a lot to offer. Coming from a mountainous area in Austria, we were really glad to be in the Rocky´s after a long time of plains. Dinosaur´s, Buffallo´s and a lot of hiking made some very nice Impressions!

The route: Lloydminster - Edmonton - Drumheller - Waterton Lakes NP - Kootenay NP - Banff NP - Calgary - Yoho NP - Jasper NP - Grande Cache - Grimshaw - High Level - Indian Cabins

A special is for all the Rodeo-fans among us!
And a part of British Columbia was also on our way...

July started with the North West Territories. The first longer stretches on gravel roads, meaning approximately 900km on streets, that are rich in variations. The wilderness and emptiness was interesting, although the landscape didn´t vary very much.

The route is short in places: Indian Cabins - Enterprise - Hay River - Wood Buffalo NP - Fort Smith - Enterprise - Fort Providence - Fort Simpson - Fort Liard

The second half of July was a new impression, totally different. The Yukon Territories were rich in faszination: from the goldrush and the gravel road past the arctic circle to the midnight sun. Larger than live.

The route: Watson Lake - White Horse - Stewart Crossing- Keno City (the silver trail) - Fort McPherson (Dempster Highway) - Dawson City - Top of the world highway

It took us one month to have a "glimpse" at Alaska - it surely was one of the highlights so far. From the northernmost point in North America at Prudhoe Bay to the unbelievable hot weather we finally had bear-experiences that were just beyond our imagination.

The route: Top of the world highway - Eagle - Chicken - Tok - Delta Junction - Fairbanks - Circle - Prudhoe Bay (Dalton Highway) - Denali NP - Denani Highway - Anchorage - Kenai - Portage - Seward - Glennallen - Valdez - Wrangell/Saint Elias NP - Mc Carthy - Kennicott - Tok - Beaver Creek - Haines - Hyder

On our way south we crossed the Yukon Territories and British Columbia - and we saw many of those things, that we imagined Canada to be: wide plains mixed with mountains, cattle, western romantic - and the first snowfall.

The route: White Horse - Cassiar Highway - Seward - Fort George - Quesnel - 100 Miles House - Whistler - Vancouver - Go-to-the-Sun Rd - Vancouver Island: (Campbell - Pacific Rim National Park - Port Alberni - Nanaimo - Port Renfrew - Sooke - Victoria) Vancouver - Fort Langley - Harrison - Peachland - Kelowna - Revelstoke Nationalpark - Crowsnest Highway - Waterton Lakes National Park
