This was our first entry into Chile, and the main reason was Torres del Paine National Park. To be honest, the entrance fee was quite high - therefore we did a lot of hiking outside the official park borders. Beautiful views of the Torres were easy to catch, and the villages Punto Arenas and Puerto Natales appeared nicely too. Finally we made a little trip to the southernmost possible drive on the American Continent. Enjoy! The route: Puerto Natales - Torres del Paine - Villa Tehuelches - Punta Arenas - Fort Bulnes - Punta San Juan - Punta Arenas - Estancia San Gregorio - Punta Delgada Open all the

Tierra del FuegoWe did not want to seperate this incredible beautiful island into two countries, although Argentina and Chile are sharing it. Both nations own wonderful landscapes and unforgetable impressions. It is unique. It is the southern end of the world, as there is no other possibility for an ordinary traveller to go further south by car. It is also the point of return for us. Several books about the land of fire accompanied us and made history vital. The route: Open

Chile - Part IIThe main reason, why we were in the same area one more time, were the rodeos. Luckily a Argentine family told us in the Pali Aike National Park, that there will be a rodeo coming up. While we were waiting for the second one, we had a wonderful time with the Condors at Laguna Sofia. Chile - Part IIIThe famous name of the street is "Carretera Longitudinal Austral Presidente Pinochet", in short the Carretera Austral. Chile - Part IVThe lake district is a part of Chile, where everybody, who lives in the Alps feels at home. More people, more streets, cultivated land all over. For counting cows and sheep or taking out your fishing gear it is a great spot, for nature lovers the remote parts are better suited. The island of Chiloe with its beautiful architecture and "left-over" villages is a little bit different, still you can hear more "muuuuh" than bird songs. If you want to step 40 years back in time - go there! The route: NP Puyehue - Lago Puyehue - Osorno - Bahia

Chile - Part VIThis is a different picture set. Most of the contents is from Vallenar, a little town between Copiapo and La Serena. All together we spent seven weeks there, because we had a problem with our gearbox. But the time went by so fast - because we found really warm-hearted people there. With a lot of laughing and nice barbecues it was the best place to imagine for solving a serious problem. Unforgetable! Muchas gracias a todos in Vallenar! Chile - Part VIILeaving Vallenar we were very lucky to experience a first sight of one of the small wonders on our planet. Unique in the world is the flowering desert or "desierto florido", a phenomena that only occurs in those years, when there was enough rain in an area which normally is a vast desert. Further up the coast and inland the desert shows its strength - there is a reason, why the Atacama is called the driest desert on the world. We really enjoy these wide, unsettled areas, although the touristy San Pedro de Atacama has its interesting parts too... The route: Vallenar - Huasco Bajo - Costera Atacama - Carrizal Bajo - Puerto Viejo - Caldera - Bahia Inglesa - Copiapo - Inca del Oro - Diego de Almargo - Chanaral - NP Pan de Azucar - Taltal - Paposo - Antofagasta - Mejillones - La Portada - Baquedano - Calama - San Pedro de Atacama - Portezuelo Purico - San Pedro de Atacama - Cordillera de la Sal - Route 27 - Moai de Tara - Reserva Nacional Los Flamingos - Paso de Jama Open all the

Chile Special Ayquina 2011A small village with less than 100 habitants hosts once a year over 10.000 visitors. On the 7th and 8th of September the Virgin Guadalupe de Ayquina celebrates her birthday annually. In devotion to the virgin hundreds of dancers from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru show their costumes. That´s why we decided to offer a little special of this event! |

Chile Special Desierto Florido 2011Unique in the world is the flowering desert in Chile. Only when there was enough rainfall throughout the whole winter, there is a chance to see the blooming wonder. This happens only in an interval of 3 to 5 years - and we were so lucky to see this happening! 175 pictures wait for you! |
